Pender Harbour: Then came the rain.

Yuko enjoying the quiet under the $40 Wal-Mart mosquito-netting tent.

Apparently $40 Wal-mart mosquito-netting tents are not designed for a West-Coast deluge.
The roof trapped water, and that weight collapsed the tent, breaking several of the plastic fittings in the process. Junked.

Peter managed to get a trench dug in time to divert the small creek that decided to flow through the camp...

And even used a few blocks of wood to silence the drip! Most of the about 1 inch of rain fell within 30 minutes.

While Peter and Jennifer remained dry, this tenter got a bit of a soggy surpise, and left first thing in the morning!

The now soggy campfire, on lower ground, with water-line evidence of 6" of water pooling there during the night. There was 2" of water in the wheelbarrow!

Oh well, even if the outside seating was still damp, there was room for breakfast inside, and the sun was shining again!
