Whistler Hiway.
33 minutes. The landing helicopter "cleaned" the road, and pushed a LOT of sand, dirt and dust into the air.
33 minutes. And it all landed right inside this open top convertible.
37 minutes. The roof is up now, but the inside is a mess. That helicopter is very close.
38 minutes. The first of the evacuees is being prepared for a quick ride to VGH.
39 minutes. The second evacuee is being removed very carefully.
41 minutes. Loading the first patient into the helicopter.
50 minutes. Take off. The car was VERY close to the helicopter, and was shaken by the downwash of air. There was no need for us to be
there any longer, and I realized that we were probably parked in bad place, so I asked the police if we could clear the area ahead of the helicopter's take-off. However, the helicopter pilot
would not allow it. So once it took off, we were allowed to continue on our way to Whistler.
After a quiet lunch... We heard from those arriving later that they were delayed 3 hrs, and stuck in line almost back at Squamish.
Drive safely. Watch out for the other guy.
