Aquarium & Big Beach.

We walked towards the north end of the beach. The shore was steeply sloped, and waves would crash with a lot of enthusiasm.

This was the popular activity here. They use a skim board, and time their run directly at the wave, and do a banked turn on the front of the wave. This guy was really good.

Since the south end of the beach was closer, we changed direction and walked towards it instead. We wanted to see around the corner, and the waves on the rocks.

The water colour here is such a pale soft blue. Since there isn't much sand in the rocks, it doesn't have the brown sand swirls in it.

The rocks were out far enough to keep the camera person protected and dry!

"Hmmmm... I wonder what the real estate prices are nearby..."

We had to walk back to the middle of the beach to get to the parking area, and on the way I saw this: no, it's not the girls, it's the guy flying in the air behind them!

In the next picture, zoomed in, you can see he's crashed back into the water. He must have gotten airborne on his skim board! Can you see the other interesting situation?
No, it's not the girls... It's the yellow skim board. Can you see the person's feet and legs sticking out of the water? Someone is upside down...

This was another fun thing: stepping through the waves like they're glass doors!

Ok, this is totally out of place.

Nearby along the road, the cactus were thriving!

They were quite large, too! The island of Maui gets drier as you travel south, here it's almost desert. At the north end, it's nearly jungle.
