Spring is Springing...
...a few days earlier... Yup, it's a drizzle day! Note the bent paddle handle: My wrists needed the easier gripping angles. I use the blue elastic bands to position my hands.
And this is why I don't mind the drizzle day: Look at all the marine traffic those kayakers are dealing with!
A Granville Island issue. Note that the boats are getting pretty close to the bottom...
Granville Island is a mud bank that has had a layer of rocks dumped on it. And the rocks are sliding off the soft mud!
Sooo... This excavator is pulling them back up! At low tide, parts of the dock were resting on the bottom. Our kayaks are just behind me.
By moving the rocks back up onto the shore, there is now more room under the docks. I had to move my kayak back a bit to get it out of the way.
They even made an extension arm to reach further under the docks. Our kayaks overhang the water, and were at risk of damage from the excavator.
That's a lot of material... They must have brought in some extra. About half of it is now being trucked away. The really big rocks are being left behind, though.
