Fushimi Inari: the orange arches.
With so much beauty to capture, it was difficult to know where to begin...
The main temple building, which we went around...
The main prayer building, which we also went around...
All so we could get here! Well, not exactly here, this is the outside of the arch-covered walkway...
Here! Inside the torii covered walkway! (Torii = gates)
It was busy! We arrived about lunchtime, along with everyone else! The backwards "way back" sign refers to a shortcut for those unwilling to continue...
This Inari (at the shortcut point) wants to play fetch with a tennis ball ???
We continued the trek, and fortunately most of the crowd did not!
The orange colour is everywhere...
Looking back. There are dates written on the pillars, but only on the east (?) side. The girl is looking at a guy beside me, who is taking her picture.
We took the second exit, as the trail does continue for 2 km up the hill. The torii don't continue much past that point. We just walked through this section.
The gates behind us meet up with the other passage we were on. This was our exit.
And then through the big torii and back to the main compound.
