...It rained today...

After lunch, Yuko found a nice umbrella shop, and added another to her collection!

Lost in translation: I think that's supposed to read "up to 10% off", not "10% up".

The annual boy's festival was soon. Parents would set up these displays in the hopes of their sons growing up to be tough and independent. Just like a Samurai!
Earlier in the year it was the girl's festival. Their display is a royal wedding setting. Parents hoped that their daughters would marry well, and not to some tough, independant Samurai type...

After a long day of shopping, as we walked back to the hotel we checked out the various dining options.

We found a nice place (downstairs), with a "no smoking" section at the back, in the smoke. The place was busy, mostly younger adults, unwinding after work.

Lots of tasty veggies. These cabbage bits were dipped in the flavoured salt, making a very nice appatizer!

Marion's chopstick skills were improving to no end!

It was dark when we got back to the hotel, so I walked over to Nijo castle for some night pictures.

The outer walls were lit with a pale pink light. Now, where is the best view?

Not bad, but I might be in too close...

Ok, this one looks good.

Hmm. But so does this one... Oh well, I'll keep both of them, then! And that ends our 6th day of travel.
