More Reykjavik
Our favourite coffe shop ! It was only two blocks from our accomodations. BakaBaka in Japaese literally means "idiot idiot".
However, it actually takes its name from Bakarabrekkan, the name of the park next to it.
A very popular and cozy place with locals, as most of the conversations around us were in Icelandic.
We had a great chat with one of the wait staff who was from Portugal, and had spent a month in Japan recently.
Their menu, with prices typical of Iceland. ISK (Iceland Krona), with exchange fees, equal approx 1.2 CDN cents.
So my 990 latte is ~1200 pennies = $12.00 CDN. The ham and cheese sandwich is abt $33.
Bakabaka faced on to the beginning of the shopping street, which made it convenient!
We were staying near the municipal and federal part of town, and the architecture was wotrth a look.
The concert hall is spectacular.
So spectacular, that I even took another picture !
Three pictures, even !
We could go inside, and thought there might be a nice restautant with a good view of the city/harbour/mountains.
Well, there is a restaurant, but no view, and very resrticted open hours.
This was another quirk of Iceland: food services seemed to be inverse to the expectations based of the location.
So we chugged along, heading towards the docks.
And continued our search for the next lunch location !
