On the road, to Vik.

We left Reykvavik, and drove towards Vik. We travelled light, having kept our Reykjavik accomodations, while staying 2 nights in Vik.

Hekla. One of Iceland's more famous (and active) volcanoes. The last 4 eruptions were in 1980, 1981, 1991, and 2000. ...overdue?
We didn't go to it, but I was happy to see a clear view on this visit! I switched to a long zoom lens for this image.

Along the south-east coast, the cliffs become quite prominent! ...and waterfalls, too !

Our destination: Skogafoss ! ("foss" is Icelandic for "falls", and this is the Skoga river)

In the finest of Icelandic traditions, if tourists want to get themselves killed, go right ahead, there's plenty more where you came from !

Seriously though, compared to 7 years ago, there were a few more protective rope lines and warning signs here. I guess they're getting tired of recovering bodies...

You could, quite literally, walk up to the falls...

So I did. Note the lack of other idiots nearby... The spray was like a sideways torrent, but the gusty winds made it occaisionally possible to get a picture!

Apparetly, there are other tourists as crazy as that Canadian!

...should have brought some shampoo !

Ok, ok, we could be responsible tourists, like the others !
