Farewell time.
This looks like the upper reaches of Roger Creek.
I don't recognise this location, though.
The old Look-Out location! See the pulp mill smoke? See the smoke from the other two mills?
Yes it's a bit cloudy, too, but this haze that hides the mountains is the way I remember it back then. The mountains in the distance were never clearly visible.
Now here's the same view from a few years ago. You can even match the trees in the foreground. It's late afternoon, and there is some lens reflections.
But look how clear the mountains are in the distance. And look how much the trees and greenery have filled in, hiding the roads.
And it must be August, because Jim gets a birthday cake!
And once more, it's Jim's birthday that is celebrated by the Dutch relatives... No fair! He got a big birthday party in Holland, too!
Us? Now, we didn't do anything...
Oh, it's family photo time!
And now it's party time! The farewell send-off for the Dutch visitors!
"Just a minute, nobody move, I need to reset this thing... Don't do anything interesting until my camera is working again!"
Even Oma Krom is light on her feet! This time, it's with Mr. Roodbal!
"Hey! Don't take my picture, take one of his wife instead!"
...his wife... Uhhh, what exactly is she doing? Is it something that can be explained to your grandhildren? What is she holding, anyway??
