Vancouver.
And who can forget the Student Union Building...
The main floor, usually the busiest place...
Basement, also usually busy. Lots of re-modeling going on. The scuba shop (now located behind me) was where the fire alarm bell is now.
Back in the '80's, a small group of mountain climbers started a small club/store, just down that corridor under the exit sign on the left.
They started selling specialist mountain climbing equipment, with the added peculiarity that you had to buy a membership. I was certain that this business model would fail in short order.
Called themselves "Mountain Equipment Co-op", or "MEC" for short. Yup, that MEC!
Summer, and not many students in the SUb cafeteria...
And here's why it's so quiet: the new SUB is open! (hint: It's the big building on the right...)
This is the entrance that faces the old SUB. Notice the climbing wall behind the upper floor windows...
It's a little more architecturally open... Very open!
And it's not completely done yet. The camera had the big super-wide lens on, as well as the microphone, which perhaps got their attention...
The roof-top garden is certainly well tended.
There are even vegetable gardens!
All right next to the new Grad Student Center. And I haven't yet found out what that new construction in the distance is. It seems to be in the midst of the Engineering buildings.
