A view from the air!

Looking back towards where we came from, this is Molokai's east edge. There are roads visible, but the island is relatively unoccupied.

One of the small villages.

Along the north eastern shore of Molokai, the cliffs and valleys are steep and deep, and totally inaccesable except by boat or helicopter.

It had been raining recently, and looked like it still was further west (right side of piture). Pilot Tim sagely remarks: "Without the rain, we wouldn't see the waterfalls".

We stayed out of the valley for now, as there were 2 other helicopters ahead of us... Rush hour congestion, in the air!

So we continued along the shore westward, and along these 3,000 ft tall cliffs.

Pilot Tim says: "The tallest seacliffs in the world".

Pilot Tim says: "That black rock face is recently exposed rock. There was a recent collapse along this cliff".

Pilot Tim says: "The tallest waterfalls in the USA". There is another helicopter coming out of the valley, so it will soon be our turn.

But first a further check along the cliffs.

Another big valley, but here we met with rain, so we turned back. The other helicopters should be out of the way by now...
