Vatnajokull


From the driver's point of view: these machines were primative! There were some updated electronics, of course!



And if you thought they were slow on land, just wait til they're in the water: ...well, they're slow in the water, too!



We did our best to avoid any form of Titanic experience...



And they even fished a bergy-bit from the lagoon, and we each got to handle a piece. ...now where's that Scotch...



With all that ice, the water was cold. Literally "ice-cold", actually "Iceland-cold"!



Apparently kayaks are scarcer than icebergs! ...and with a longer rental line-up, as well...



Once back on shore we made our way back to the rv.



And the clouds were thinning, so the light for the pictures got a bit better.



She was quite good at this, and had her own camera crew. Oh well, she must want attention, so I happily provided some at 1/400 sec each time!



We drove over the bridge, and onto the ocean side by the black sand. Here, the waves and the wind were pushing the bergy bits back onto shore!



It was a surreal experience. Ice chunks everywhere.



And in all sizes, looking like broken glass.



And against the black sand, the ice really stood out. The weather had turned rainy-misty-foggy, so everything was getting whited out.



The black sand in the water made the waves look really unusual as they pounded the ice chunks.
