The Golden Circle: Gullfoss and Geysir
For our drive back to Reykjavik, we made the circle tour of the major attractions...
...Icelandic horses are a major attraction, too? These were quite common outside the main towns, and along the roads.
There seemed to be a competition between the horse for any attention from the tourists.
And they were friendly enough, and cetainly not tall!
Our first stop was Gluggafoss.
While not a major attraction, the closer you got to it, the more unusual it looked!
It was still early in the day, and the icicles were still visible!
The narrower upper falls made their way down through these unusual hollowed out steps !
Our next stop, near the town of Selfoss, was to check out Urridafoss.
There were the remains of a wooden walkway, and a viewing platform below, but we stayed along the main path.
The rapids did give that impression that during Spring (summer?) thaw, it could get spectacular here!
Convenient to reach, we were only a few km off the main hiway.
