Last two days in Reykjavik...
With the long dark and cold winters, Icelanders have developed their own sense of humour.
...and sometimes it tries to be subtle!
We finally made it to the maritime museum, which is an excellent location to visit if you want a look at how their environment has shaped them.
The displays are all on the second floor, requiring you to climb up through these circling cod!
...not that cod is the only fish found here, it's just the major catch by quantity. All of the fish found here are on the wall poster.
For the Girl Guide leaders in our group, this display was all too familiar!
For those who could appreciate early navigation tech, there was a good selection!
Even some heavy early 20th century Japanese equipment.
Fishing boats then: a regular-shaped boat hull with and top and insides adapted to fishing.
Fishing boats now: the hull shape itself has also been adapted to fishing!
When we left the museum, It was still cold with gusting winds.
